Bruno Fernandes sent Manchester United warning with Kevin de Bruyne comparison

Paul Parker has warned Bruno Fernandes he can't expect a honeymoon period if he moves to Manchester United in the January transfer window.

United are currently exploring the possibility of adding Bruno Fernandes this month following injuries to midfield duo Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

Fernandes has been a key player for Sporting Lisbon this season but some critics are dubious of whether or not he has the talents to be a success in the Premier League.

Former United defender Parker says Fernandes would have to hit the ground running should he move to Old Trafford, and has challenged him to emulate the importance of Kevin de Bruyne.

"He’s really going to have to hit the ground running and be like United’s own Kevin De Bruyne, because he is going to be judged from the very first minute he starts playing for the club," he told Gambling.com.

“The only thing is, if you were to put De Bruyne in the United team right now he would struggle because he would be the only creative player in the team – he needs other people to work with him.

“So I’m not so sure we’ll see Fernandes at his very best right away because he might not have the right players around him.

"It’ll be interesting, but he can’t expect to come to United and be given time to settle in, that doesn’t happen at Manchester United.”
