Bruno Fernandes sends message to Raphael Varane ahead of Manchester United transfer

Bruno Fernandes is back in training at Manchester United and has welcomed Raphael Varane's impending arrival at Old Trafford.

While Fernandes was on holiday after the European Championship, the club announced the signing of Jadon Sancho for £73m from Borussia Dortmund.

Fernandes returned to training on Tuesday, with the club confirming that evening that they had agreed a deal in principle to sign Real Madrid defender Varane.

Varane's move is subject to a medical which is expected to take place next week after he has undergone a period of quarantine in England.

United confirmed the agreement for Varane in a statement which said: "Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphaël Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalised."

Fernandes expressed his delighted at being back in training and sent a message to Varane after the announcement.

He said in a post on Instagram: "Fresh new start!! Great to be back with my teammates. And what a way to finish the day...welcome @raphaelvarane."
