Bruno Fernandes sends Manchester United Europa League challenge

Bruno Fernandes has challenge Manchester United to score another five goals in their second leg against LASK Linz, as he warned his teammates not to become complacent.

The Europa League quarter-final draw has pitted United against either Copenhagen or Istanbul Basaksehir, assuming they come through the tie against LASK, which they are leading 5-0 after the first leg.

The rest of the tournament will be played as one-off games at neutral venues in Germany, but United head back to Old Trafford to see through the job they started back in March before the coronavirus pandemic.

And Fernandes, who has still not tasted defeat in 15 United appearances, has demanded another demolition job from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

“For me, it’s the same as I don’t care because, when you play for Manchester, you know you need to win every game,” he told United's official website.

“It doesn’t matter who you play against when you play for one of the biggest teams in the world and you can beat everyone.

“We need to focus on beating everyone so, of course for me, the first point is winning against LASK. It doesn’t matter if you have five goals away, we need to win again and need to score five goals. It doesn’t matter - football is about winning.

“Winning gives you confidence so we can’t stop in this moment in thinking about just playing against LASK."

On the draw itself, he added: "We’ll see when we’re playing against them, winning the game, and, after, think about Copenhagen or Istanbul. It doesn’t matter who comes.”

Winning the Europa League will give United a spot in next season's Champions League, though Solskjaer and Fernandes will be hoping they can achieve that by finishing in the Premier League top four. United are just one point off fourth-placed Leicester after a scintillating run of form since the restart.
