Bruno Fernandes says goodbye to Sporting Lisbon fan on Instagram ahead of Manchester United transfer

Bruno Fernandes said a heartfelt goodbye to a young Sporting Lisbon fan ahead of his impending move to Manchester United.

United have held protracted negotiations with Sporting throughout January and the club is confident of finally sealing the transfer after a breakthrough in negotiations on Tuesday.

MEN Sport understands that a deal is close to being completed after United agreed an up-front fee of €55million (£46.56m) with Sporting, with the possibility of United paying a further €25million in add-ons.

€10million is subject to Champions League qualification and appearances while an extra €15million is based on individual milestones Fernandes may accomplish.

Fernandes was asked about the impending transfer by Portuguese press late on Tuesday night and when asked if he had a last message for Sporting's fans he said it wasn't the time.

"Still none, it still isn't the moment for a last message," the Sporting captain said.

However, the 25-year-old has been saying his goodbyes to one fan on Instagram, who had posted a photo of the pair together with the caption: "Goodbye Bruno, good trip."

Fernandes responded with an emotional goodbye, saying: "I will not forget your little tears, whether or not you believe your tears and words moved me! I hope one day later I will be able to see you again."

Fernandes is expected to arrive for his United medical on Wednesday afternoon.
