Bruno Fernandes reveals security message to Man Utd stars inside Lowry Hotel during protests

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has given details on Sunday's fan protest against the Glazers' ownership of the Premier League club.

The demonstrations started before United were due to play Liverpool in the league but after fans broke into Old Trafford the match was postponed.

Protests also took place at the Lowry Hotel, where the team were in preparation for the game.

Fernandes has spoken about what the players were told while it was happening and said he "didn't want to remember" the events.

He said: "The most important is that everyone has something to say. The most important thing is the team and we have a good group.

"It was completely different, that was the fans and players, it was really different to Sunday. I don’t want to compare. I don’t want to remember that, what happened on Sunday is past.

"I was in my room watching Udinese v Juventus. I didn’t try to go outside. I did what security said and stayed in my room."

The star was speaking ahead of the club's second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Roma on Thursday.

The first leg ended in a spectacular 6-2 comeback for United, after they went 2-1 down after 33 minutes.

Second-half goals from Edinson Cavani, Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba saved their title hopes and may be the key to ending United's semi-final heartbreak.

The Europa League semi-finals are the fifth semis United have reached since January 2020, with every one so far ending in defeat.
