Bruno Fernandes attempted to downplay his angry confrontation with Victor Lindelof after Manchester United's defeat to Sevilla.
Lindelof was unable to deal with a cross as Luuk de Jong fired Sevilla into the Europa League final at the expense of the Red Devils with a 1-0 victory.
A furious Fernandes voiced his displeasure after the goal with Lindelof biting back and going head to head with his team-mate.
It was claimed on social media that Lindelof, who previously played for Benfica, screamed a Portuguese insult at Fernandes which translated to "son of a b****".
And Fernandes responded to the incident after the game which saw United's season come to a disappointing end.
He told BT Sport: "I think it's normal when you take a goal in the last 10 minutes.
"Everyone was mad. It's not about me or Victor, it's about the team. What's happened between me and Victor is normal. That's football, it happens.
"The most important now is we have to see the mistakes everyone made and look forward."
Fernandes also spoke of his frustration after the Red Devils failed to convert several clear cut chances and were made to pay the price.
He said: "More than a positive start. We played a great game and created a lot of chances. But in football it's not enough - we missed a lot in front of goal.
"We are not satisfied about this because we wanted to go through. Now it's time to rest and refresh the legs. Their keeper did very well, but the quality we have we should have scored. "
