Tottenham made some major moves during the summer transfer window but they didn't pull off one of the much-talked about potential deals as Bruno Fernandes stayed put at Sporting.
Spurs acquired the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso but were also said to have been in talks with Fernandes.
The Portuguese star bagged 20 league goals back in his home country during the 2018/19 season and was linked with Manchester United and Spurs.
An offer from Spurs was even confirmed by Sporting, according to reports, only for a deal not to materialise.
However, that's not to say Fernandes isn't willing to find his way to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
The 24-year-old even provided some glowing comments about the Premier League after Sporting's 3-2 to loss at PSV in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
"I have the desire to play England, this is the league I want to play," Fernandes told O Jogo, per Sport Witness.
"There are other clubs from other countries and I have the ambition to get there, but when I came to Portugal I had the ambition to play at Sporting, in a great club, and I’m still delighted.
"Regardless of whether we’re not in the best shape, I believe we’ll quickly return to that desired form.”
It's safe to say that Fernandes knows where he wants to end up.
