Bruno Fernandes opens up on Paul Pogba after he took penalty won by Frenchman

Bruno Fernandes says he and Paul Pogba have found a connection - but the team is more important than the two of them.

The Portuguese played alongside Pogba for the first time on Friday night, as Manchester United drew 1-1 with Tottenham.

Pogba came on in the second half and put in a brilliant performance, getting the better of Eric Dier and winning a penalty.

The Frenchman used to take the Red Devils' spot-kicks, but things have changed since Pogba has been out injured for United.

Fernandes takes the penalties for United now, and Pogba handed the ball over to the Portuguese to take Friday's spot-kick.

But Pogba was happy to do this, claims Fernandes, who says the pair are putting their egos to one side for the greater good of the team.

"We have been training hard in the past weeks. When we train in groups I was in one with Paul so to find a connection is easier," said Fernandes.

"But I have found a good connection with everyone. The most important thing is the team and Paul thinks the same. With the penalty, Paul won it and I I took it, so the most important thing is about the team."

When asked if Pogba's return has had an impact on the way the plays for Man United, he added: "No it doesn't change a thing.

"As a team we need to look to the Champions League, we need to try to be close to try and catch the guys in front of us."
