Bruno Fernandes makes confession to Sporting Lisbon team-mates amid Man Utd transfer link

Bruno Fernandes has told his Sporting Lisbon team-mates a transfer away from the Portuguese club is gathering pace, according to reports.

Manchester United are just one of the teams who have been linked with a move for the £70million-rated Portugal international.

The Red Devils recently distanced themselves from the midfielder and Lille forward Nicolas Pepe, who looks set to sign for Arsenal this week.

But Manchester United remain in the market for a new midfielder after parting company with Ander Herrera, who joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free.

There are also still question marks hanging over Paul Pogba, and Fernandes is apparently adamant he will be leaving Sporting this month.

According to Portuguese publication A Bola, the 24-year-old has informed his club team-mates that a transfer away from Sporting Lisbon is gathering momentum.

Sporting on the other hand are confident they will keep hold of their prized asset.

The club intend to play Fernandes against Benfica in the Supertaca on Sunday.

What's more, club president Frederico Varandas recently told  RTP: "I don't know if there are many or if there are few [interested clubs].

"What I know, a lot has been spoken of values, coming to the press, €55million, €62million… for that he doesn't leave, for sure."
