Bruno Fernandes hints at promising Paul Pogba partnership at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba hit the training pitch together on Tuesday as Manchester United stepped up their plans for the restart of the Premier League.

Fernandes has been an instant hit at Old Trafford since signing from Sporting in January, with the Portugal midfielder transforming the mood in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad and inspiring United to wins over the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.

The 25-year-old was widely perceived to have been signed as a potential replacement for Pogba, with United making their move in January in order to avoid the prospect of both losing Pogba and also failing to replace him this summer.

While Pogba has not necessarily changed his mind about leaving United should Real Madrid or Juventus come calling, the prospect of a big-money move has fallen given the financial repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.

Pogba has struggled with injury problems this season, but has returned to socially-distanced training and looks set to be available for the restart of the season - and the prospect of Fernandes and the World Cup winner playing in the same midfield has got some people excited.

One of those is Fernandes himself, who took to Instagram to post a picture of the pair stretching together with a firework emoji.

Following the return of Pogba and Marcus Rashford to training, Solskjaer said: "They’re looking good, they’ve joined training now and they’ve done everything the other boys have been doing. No reaction so far, touch wood.

“When we get started, it looks like we can have a full squad to choose from.”
