Bruno Fernandes has revealed the secret behind his first Manchester United goal in their 4-0 win over Real Sociedad.
The Portuguese midfielder netted a brace as United secured an emphatic first-leg win in the Europa League round-of-32 on Thursday evening.
After a tricky start to the match United took the lead when Fernandes capitalised on a defensive error to calmly slot the ball into an empty net.
A brilliant through ball from Marcus Rashford caused chaos in the Sociedad defence, resulting in goalkeeper Alex Remiro colliding with two of his defenders.
It would have been excusable had Fernandes been caught up in the scramble, but he stayed calm and was rewarded as the ball came through to him and he slotted home.
"I just wait for right moment for ball to come down and the right moment to kick," he told BT Sport. "Because if you rush in the moment you can take a wrong shot and the ball goes out."
The 26-year-old netted a second goal after the break when he latched onto Daniel James' first-touch to steal the ball and curl it beyond the Sociedad keeper.
James looked set to run at goal himself but Fernandes joked he gave the Welshman an assist by clinically dispatching after his poor touch.
He added: "I was expecting the touch from Dan James for me, but when he controls the ball I think it was a control! I see the ball close from me and in that occasion the goalkeeper is coming out and if you kick well on the first touch it’s difficult for the goalkeeper to react and luckily for me it was a goal."
