Bruno Fernandes has 'shown up' Paul Pogba at Man Utd - but there's still hope

Bruno Fernandes has 'shown up' Paul Pogba by doing everything he was meant to do at Manchester United since joining in January.

That's according to Emmanuel Petit, who adds that it isn't all bad news for the Frenchman just yet, and that he is hopeful he can strike a formidable partnership with Fernandes at Manchester United.

The Red Devils signed Pogba in 2016, and while the World Cup winner has shown glimpses of his class in this time, he hasn't been the consistent performer United were expecting to get.

Pogba has missed much of this season with an injury, but Fernandes has stepped up in his place since January, and has quickly become the club's star attraction.

On the influence of the 25-year-old Portuguese, and what it means for Pogba, Petit told Mirror Football: "Fernandes has made a huge impact.

"In the space of two months he is the best buy in the winter market. He has made such a big impact. It's like he's been at the club for six years.

"He's changed the mentality inside the dressing room. It's hard for a player to come in mid-season and do that.

"Paul Pogba was meant to be doing this at Manchester United. It's what he should have done in terms of leadership on the pitch.

"But I'm looking forward to seeing them together on the pitch, I want to see if that can work, and I'm pretty sure it can work."
