Bruno Fernandes gives first interview since Manchester United transfer

Bruno Fernandes has issued a personal farewell to Sporting Lisbon as he prepares to join up with Manchester United.

The Portuguese playmaker leaves the capital city club after a deal worth €55million up front and €10million in add-ons was agreed between Sporting and United. He will soon join up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side— subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed.

And the 25-year-old recorded a video on his former club's social media feeds to bid goodbye to his former supporters.

He said: "Hey Sporting fans. I wanted to say 'see you soon'. Because I won't stop following your games. It was a pleasure to be here with you, it was a pleasure to represent these colours, to be able to wear the lion on my chest.

"I will soon leave a proper goodbye message for you to know what is going on in my heart. Thank you!"

Although Fernandes has not yet been officially unveiled as a United player, nor had his squad number confirmed, he is expected at the club's Carrington training ground for a medical.

In a statement, United said: “Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the transfer of Bruno Fernandes. The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms.

"A further announcement will be made in due course."

Fernandes' agent of him and the player on a private jet bound for Manchester as fans prepare to welcome their newest addition. Fernandes will be Solskjaer's fourth permanent signing as manager.
