Bruno Fernandes gets a nickname after Man Utd fans make unusual observation

Well it seems Bruno Fernandes has finally been given a nickname.

Manchester United supporters took to Twitter on Tuesday night to dub the Portuguese midfielder the "Milkman" after he was seen drinking a bottle of, well, milk.

Fernandes netted twice in the Red Devils' 3-0 victory over Brighton before he was replaced by Scott McTominay on 64 minutes.

The Portuguese made his way off the pitch and into the stands, where he took a seat in his designated, socially-distanced spot inside the Amex Stadium.

Cameras panned to him enjoying the action moments later as he cheered his team-mates on. However, Fernandes was then seen picking up a bottle of what appeared to be milk.

Presumably, the milk had some sort of supplement mixed into it.

After all, it is not uncommon to see a footballer drink a form of protein shake handed to him by a sport scientist after making his way off the pitch.

Either way, the sight of Fernandes chugging down the white stuff prompted much laughter from the United faithful, who took to Twitter to christen him the "Milkman".

Fernandes has been instrumental in United's good form since football returned, but played down his efforts on Tuesday night, despite his brace.

He said: "I was lucky for the first goal but also the keeper was lucky for my first shot – the ball hit the post! So I think I am happy.

"It was amazing. But it was a good job from Paul. In the first goal, the ball came back for me, he knows I will be there to shoot. And the second goal was an amazing assist from Mason [Greenwood], an amazing pass, and I do a good shot.

"Of course I am really happy for my goals. But I'm more happy for the result because the team deserves this. We are fighting for the place in the Champions League. We know we can achieve this."
