Bruno Fernandes 'facing January transfer decision' as Tottenham eye Christian Eriksen replacement

Tottenham are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Bruno Fernandes in January as Spurs become resigned to losing Christian Eriksen in the winter window.

Fernandes was strongly linked with a move from Sporting Lisbon to north London in the summer with Manchester United also interested in the midfielder's services.

And reports in Portugal say Spurs will go back in for the 25-year-old when the transfer window reopens at the start of 2020.

Eriksen made no secret of his desire to move away from Tottenham in the summer but remained with the Premier League amid interest from Real Madrid .

But his contract at Spurs is up at the end of the season and Daniel Levy is likely to cash in rather than lose the Dane for free next summer.

The Spanish capital remains his most likely destination with Zinedine Zidane keen to strengthen in midfield.

Paul Pogba is also a target for Los Blancos but Eriksen would appear to be a more realistic proposition for the Spanish giants.

Fernandes hit 31 goals in 50 outings for Sporting last term but despite interest from across the continent no club was willing to stump up £65million for his services.

He's scored four times in six appearances already this campaign and has established himself as a regular for Portugal - starring in their Nations League triumph over the summer.

Spurs are languishing in 11th place in the Premier League after a difficult start to the season.

Eriksen has featured in each of their eight top-flight fixtures so far but four of those have been as a substitute.
