Bruno Fernandes 'entitled to compensation' after Sporting Lisbon reject transfer bid

Bruno Fernandes is reportedly entitled to a compensation package from Sporting Lisbon.

Fernandes emerged as a target for Manchester United this summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not followed up an initial interest.

Tottenham are now seemingly the favourites for Fernandes' signature with Sporting rejecting approaches from the Champions League finalists.

Record claims Spurs made an official offer of £55m (€60m) for Fernandes, only for it to be turned down by the Portuguese giants.

They are continuing to hold out for closer to £65m (€70m) but their decision to reject the offer could land Fernandes some money.

It is claimed Fernandes has a clause in his contract that entitles him to compensation and a pay rise, if an offer of more than £30m (€35m) is rejected.

There is of course a chance Fernandes won't accept the compensation but a bumper new contract could be on the cards.

The Portugal international is unsurprisingly growing agitated with the speculation and wants his future resolved.

While Fernandes is not going as far as forcing his way out of the club, he has told Sporting he wants a decision.

Sporting begin their season against Maritimo on Sunday.

Tottenham remain hopeful of completing the signing of Paulo Dybala from Juventus before the transfer window closes with talks ongoing with the Italian champions.

A loan deal for Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona has not been ruled out if Christian Eriksen departs the club.
