Bruno Fernandes could miss Everton tie as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offers Manchester United line up hint

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted he plans to rotate his Manchester United side for their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Everton, with Bruno Fernandes one man likely to sit out the game at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils beat Leeds United 6-2 at the weekend to leapfrog Carlo Ancelotti' s side in third-place in the Premier League table.

But despite a Wembley appearance and opportunity for silverware being just two matches away, the Norwegian confirmed his intention to rotate his side and rest his star player when previewing the game.

"Bruno is one that I have to protect," he admitted to reporters. "Of course, Luke (Shaw) came off with an injury so that had to be done."

However, Solskjaer seemed to suggest Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Jesse Lingard would all feature against Everton.

"Mason's fit enough to play, he was on the bench (against Leeds)," he said.

"It just wasn't to be for Mason to come (on) and he will be involved in the squad unless something happens in the next couple of days.

"Edinson's been out with an injury for a while, we need to get him going."

He added: "Jesse will be in the squad. He's been working hard in training.

"He's been unfortunate with having to isolate a few times, been in contact, or close contact with Covid, not even having it himself.

"He's been very unlucky being away from the training ground a few times. He works really hard and he'll be involved in the squad, definitely, on Wednesday."
