Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata show their finishing touch in Manchester United training drills ahead of restart

Manchester United stars are dusting off their shooting boots as they prepare for the return of the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were back in contact training on Thursday with the the English top flight now set to officially get back underway on 17 June.

United were in superb form before the season was halted in March because of the coronavirus pandemic, winning nine of their 11 games having not lost since January.

They will hope to hit the ground running with a battle still on to secure a top four finish, with clips from training sessions at Carrington offering hope.

Juan Mata, Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes looked sharp in shooting drills with Marcus Rashford also looking lethal in front of goal following his recovery from a back injury.

Angel Gomes is also seen putting the work in, seen this week in a group alongside fellow midfielders Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

United are still desperately trying to convince the 19-year-old that his future remains at the club after seeing all their offers rejected so far. There remains real hope a compromise can yet be reached with a deal worth in excess of £30,000-a-week for a player who has made only one first team start.
