Bruce won't risk Fraser or Hayden in last two games - but offers Elliot Anderson hope

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce does not expect either Ryan Fraser or Isaac Hayden to play in either of the final two games of the season.

The duo have been pictured in training in the build-up to the home game with Sheffield United at St James' Park after being hit with injury problems in March.

Hayden suffered a knee injury during the 3-0 defeat away to Brighton & Hove Albion, while Fraser has had hamstring issues this term.

Bruce stated at his Press conference that Hayden or Fraser haven't taken part in a full training session yet.

And while Fraser still harbours hopes of playing at Euro 2020, with Scotland facing England at Wembley next month, Bruce said: "I think that would be a gamble, seeing as he’s missed the last six or seven weeks.

"He has played no real football or trained."

Newcastle have not suffered any fresh injury problems ahead of the clash with the Blades, but with Elliot Anderson recovering from a hip injury Bruce will leave it until the last minute before deciding whether he is involved.

Speaking to BBC Newcastle, Bruce said: "He's had a bit of a bad hip.

"He trained yesterday for the first time in eight days.

"He's desperate to be involved, of course, but we'll see how he is.

"I'm not going to risk him for the sake of it, if he's sore."
