The Boss is back to his solo ways with his newest album, due out in June.
"Western Stars" marks Bruce Springsteen's first album since 2014's "High Hopes." The first single, "Hello Sunshine," is set to drop at midnight Friday.
The album "is a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements," Springsteen said in a press release. "It's a jewel box of a record."
"Western Stars" takes inspiration from "Southern California pop records of the late '60s and early '70s." The album boasts a "sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope."
Springsteen's wife and fellow E Street Band Member, Patti Scialfa, is one of several notable appearances on the record. The more than 20 appearances include Charlie Giordano, former E Street Band member David Sancious, and Soozie Tyrell.
The years since "High Hopes" have been chock full of Springsteen releases, from a memoir to his 14-month residency at New York's Walter Kerr Theater: "Springsteen on Broadway." The residency ended in December 2018, becoming an album and Netflix special.
