Bruce Springsteen: Donald Trump knows he's going to lose and he's trying to take the system down with him

If polls are anything to go by, October has spelt the end of the end for Donald Trump. With three weeks until election day, it appears that Teflon Trump’s “p***y-grabbing” comments and sexual assault and harassment allegations, which he has strenuously denied, have had an impact on his infamously impenetrable ability to bounce back.

To put this into context, Hillary Clinton is steadily inching ahead of the Republican candidate and now has a six-point lead according to Fox News Poll.

In a similar vein to the polls, Bruce Springsteen has weighed in on Mr Trump’s apparent undoing and argued the billionaire businessman is set to loose the presidential race.

The 67-year-old musician warned Mr Trump’s comments about “rigged elections” were profoundly dangerous given the formidable influence he exerts on great swathes of the electorate. Springsteen said they could be perceived as a direct attack on the entirety of American democracy.

“He knows he's going to lose,“ Springsteen said in an interview with Channel 4 News. ”And he's such a flagrant, toxic narcissist that he wants to take down the entire democratic system with him if he goes.”

“If he could reflect on these things but he's such a non-reflective person. And he simply has no sense of decency, no sense of responsibility about him and the words that he’s been using over the past several weeks really are an attack on the entire democratic process.”

“I think that’s very dangerous. He has a lot of people’s ears, and I don’t think he’s going to go quietly, gently into the good night. He’s going to make as a big a mess as he can. And I don’t know what that’s going to mean but we’ll find out shortly.”

Mr Trump has repeatedly claimed the US election is being rigged and even claimed people who died ten years ago are still voting. These claims have arguably laid the groundwork for him effectively rejecting the election result before it happens. Like Springsteen, John Oliver has also warned of the dangers of Mr Trump’s claims and said they could destabilise the election and are more in line with conspiracy theorists than a politician.
