Bruce Springsteen has said that he plans on touring next year.
After the pandemic halted plans for The Boss and The E Street Band to get back out on the road, in 2021 the rock 'n roll icon decided to return to Broadway to perform his fantastic one-man show.
However, during an interview with BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball, Springsteen said that he is now hoping to restart touring in 2022.
“We’ll be touring next year if everything goes well. The E Street Band will be back on the road – you know, depending, of course, on the virus and what’s opening up," he said.
This isn't the first time that the Born To Run singer has teased plans to get back out on the road because during his Woody Guthrie Prize acceptance performance back in May, The Boss confirmed plans to get back in the studio to record a follow-up to last year’s album, Letter to You.
In a recent discussion on his SiriusXM E Street Radio channel, Springsteen spoke about a number of exciting projects that he's working on too.
During the chat with hosts Dave Marsh and Jim Rotolo, The Boss said that he almost didn't revive his Broadway show because he has more globe-trotting plans in mind.
When asked about his decision to return for more performances of Springsteen on Broadway, he said: “[Manager] Jon [Landau] mentioned it to me. I knew we were going to tour with the band next year, so I said, ‘Maybe I’ll take the time off.'"
If Springsteen and The E Street Band do get back out on the road, it will be their first tour together since 'The River Tour' ended in 2017.
That particular tour included two memorable gigs at Croke Park in May 2016.
