Bruce Pearl called Auburn’s Final Four last year at his daughter’s wedding

Bruce Pearl called Auburn’s somewhat-Cinderella run in the 2019 NCAA tournament to the Final Four. The No. 5 seed Tigers play No. 1 seed Virginia on Saturday, and the Auburn head coach predicted almost a year ago that his team would be playing in this game.

The NCAA’s official men’s March Madness Twitter account posted a video Saturday before the game of Pearl and his daughter dancing at her wedding last summer to the iconic tournament song One Shining Moment.

Over the music — the captions help too — you can hear Pearl yelling to someone out of the shot that his Tigers will be in the Final Four the next season and “dance to this song.”

Auburn did, in fact, beat No. 2 seed Kentucky last weekend in the Elite Eight to advance to the program’s first Final Four. The Tigers also took down No. 1 seed UNC and No. 4 seed Kansas.

And Pearl and his daughter, Leah, have some special One Shining Moment memories, which is what makes the song choice for their father-daughter dance at her wedding a little more believable. Back when he was coaching at UW-Milwaukee, his team won and advanced to the sweet 16, and Leah somehow snuck onto the court to celebrate with her dad for what he called “our One Shining Moment.”
