Bruce Arians: QB Russell Wilson as good a dual threat as there is

The Seattle Seahawks (6-2) will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5) on Sunday at CenturyLink Field and will face their old NFC West adversary, head coach Bruce Arians, who coached the Arizona Cardinals from 2013 to 2017.

Arians, who emerged victorious over the Seahawks four out of five times in Seattle as Arizona’s coach, is more than familiar with quarterback Russell Wilson and what he brings to the table.

“Russell Wilson is a guy I probably respect as much as any quarterback in this league,” Arians said during his Wednesday press conference. “As far as taking a broken play and making something fantastic out it, I’ve played him so many times and watched him do it. A lot of guys can scramble. A lot of guys can run. But not many guys can throw the ball downfield across the field and know where your guys are when you break the pocket.”

Wilson has already put up impressive numbers this season and is continuing to stay atop the MVP discussions around the league. Despite playing behind an offensive line that has been banged up over the last few weeks, Wilson finds a way to get it done.

“He looks healthy again; he’s running a lot this year,” Arians continued. “He’s as good a dual threat as there is. And he can beat you from the pocket, so it will be a hell of a challenge.”

Seattle and Tampa Bay square off Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT at CenturyLink Field.
