Bruce Allen likes the NFL’s replay rule change

Count Washington Redskins president Bruce Allen among those who like the recent rule changes put forth by NFL owners.

Those owners decided the mistake in the NFC title game needed addressing right away. As a result, pass interference calls are now subjected to challenges and reviews.

For Allen, it’s all about the integrity of the game.

“You know, we have the technology to help the game,” Allen said, according to Redskins.com “The most important thing of all of these meetings is how can we protect the game of football, the integrity of the game, the results from the field are authenticated, and we also proposed that we would include personal foul penalties, so I think this is a good first step for the NFL.”

Head coach Jay Gruden concurs, considering he pointed out a play against Houston involving Josh Doctson that could have used a review.

Overall, reaction to the rule change has been mixed. Detractors worry it will only lengthen games and hurt tempo.

Allen, though? He’s a fan of the technology and wants to look at the positives.
