Bruce Allen laughs off idea Giants knew which QB Redskins wanted

The New York Giants continue to take some heat for selecting Duke’s Daniel Jones sixth overall.

Those Giants and Dave Gettleman have insisted a team like the Washington Redskins would have selected Jones before they could get back on the clock at No. 17.

And the Redskins’ Bruce Allen isn’t having it, which he made clear during an interview on Total Access, according to NFL.com’s Kevin Patra.

“We picked the player we wanted to pick,” Allen said. “I’m almost positive Dave has no clue what our draft board would be. I don’t know which draft boards he knows, but he doesn’t know ours.”

The Redskins ended up taking Dwayne Haskins at No. 15 after he fell. Both franchises have since insisted they got the guys they want.

Still, it is only the Giants fending off criticism by looping in other teams as justifications for their decisions. Even if the Redskins liked Jones, they aren’t going to say so now — and especially not with an NFC East team making these claims.
