HYDERABAD: Congress legislature party leader Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday accused the BRS government of acting like a colonial regime to deprive Adivasis and Tribals their right to forest resources.
Bhatti interacted with the villagers in Pulimadugu and other tandas in the Khanapur ST reserved constituency as part of his “people's march” padayatra which entered the fourth day on Sunday.
The women of Pulimadugu village apprised him of the problems being faced by them. They did not get 2-bhk houses, Aasara pensions for people aged between 57 and 65 years, government jobs and there were no toilets in many houses.
They told Bhatti that they have been facing problems in bringing soil and firewood from the forest due to officials demanding bribes. The Adivasi and Tribal women of Indravelli too poured out their woes.
The CLP leader assured the villagers that, if the Congress is voted to form the government, it would attend to all their problems, giove Indiramma houses and extend all welfare schemes the Indiramma Rajyam is known for.
Bhatti lambasted the officials for not allowing the tribals to take soil from the forest to make pots or draw drinking water, take firewood or even dig borewells. “The BRS government was acting as if it was the government of another country and cases were booked against people for fishing in Jannaram. Is this the British, French or Portugal or Telangana government? he asked.
The Rs. 42,000 crore Mission Bhagiratha project of the BRS government is a scam as a large number of houses are not getting supply from the project. People are manually drawing water from wells in Dasnapur and Andugoda.
On the other hand, pattas have not been given on podu lands, and several peop[le complained that their land ownership details were not registered on Dharani portal.
He also criticized the sitting BJP MP Soyam Bapurao for not bringing any funds from the Centre.
