Browns will sign free agent LB Adarius Taylor to a 2-year deal

The latest addition to the Cleveland Browns rapidly changing depth chart is linebacker Adarius Taylor. Per a report from Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Taylor will get $5 million over two years from the Browns, with $2.55 million of that guaranteed.

Taylor comes to Cleveland after four seasons in Tampa Bay and a brief cup of coffee with the Carolina Panthers before that stint. He played for the Buccaneers in 15 games in 2018, starting 10 thanks to injuries above him on the depth chart. The one game he missed was to be with his wife as she gave birth to their child.

He does have some familiarity with new Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks from their time together in 2014 in Carolina. The 28-year-old Taylor signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent from Florida Atlantic.

Taylor’s résumé isn’t overly impressive. He ranked 94th out of 96 qualifying linebackers in Pro Football Focus grading last season. He did break up 5 passes and record an interception (off Drew Brees) to go with his 60 tackles.
