Browns waive WR Jaelen Strong

In a bit of a surprise move on Monday evening, the Cleveland Browns released veteran wide receiver Jaelen Strong.

Strong had performed well throughout training camp, making several difficult catches and impressing fans and the media in Berea with his relentless effort and positive attitude. He caught seven passes in heavy action in the three preseason games, but he did have a costly drop in the loss to the Buccaneers.

A former third-round pick by the Houston Texans, Strong has been trying to revive his career after injuries robbed him of nearly two full seasons. He was a consensus projection to make the Browns’ final 53-man roster, particularly with WR Antonio Callaway suspended for the first four games.

Strong, always a class individual, quickly thanked the Browns for the opportunity on social media:

Good luck to Strong as he searches for a new team. He’s one of the good guys.
