Browns waive OT Trevon Tate

The Browns made a roster move on Tuesday, waiving undrafted rookie offensive tackle Trevon Tate. He was dumped in order to create a roster opening for third-round rookie LB Sione Takitaki, who signed his contract over the weekend.

Tate latched onto the Browns after a successful tryout. He had previously participated in the Oakland Raiders rookie camp. Despite impressive results at Memphis, Tate lacks the desired length at 6-foot-2 and 293 pounds to play tackle, and he doesn’t have the type of power or technical leverage to move inside to guard easily.

The Browns still have two UDFA linemen on the offense in Brian Fineanganofo and Willie Wright. Both have the ability to play multiple spots along the OL.
