Browns sign former Texans offensive tackle Kendall Lamm

There is no going back to Kendall Lamm.

The Cleveland Browns announced the signing of the 26-year-old Friday with a two-year, $7 million contract.

The 26-year old out of Appalachian State played in 55 games for Houston and started in 24 of them in his four seasons with the AFC South club. Lamm’s time with the Texans appeared to be all but over in October 2017 when he was released, only to be re-signed shortly afterward.

Consistency has been a big issue for Lamm in his time in Houston, and his development seemed to have hit a wall prior to the 2018 season. However, when injuries to the thin Texans offensive line forced his return, this past season proved to be a breakout year of sorts.

He started 13 consecutive games during the regular season and received a grade of 64.7 by Pro Football Focus, ranking him 52nd in the league among qualifying tackles. Despite this, it wasn’t enough to ensure him a spot in their 2019 roster as the Texans prepare to bring in new blood on the offensive line in the upcoming draft.
