Browns sign DT Eli Ankou from the Jaguars practice squad

The Cleveland Browns have a new defensive tackle on the active roster. The team signed Eli Ankou to the 53-man roster from the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad.

Ankou is in his third NFL season but has spent most of his career bouncing between the active and practice squads in Jacksonville. He did get some action with the Jaguars in 2017 and briefly in 2018, recording 1.5 sacks in 11 career games.

The Browns had an open spot on the roster from when the team dealt Austin Corbett to the Los Angeles Rams last week.

In another move, the team brought Montrel Meander back to the practice squad and released RB Elijah McGuire from the practice squad. Meander has been on and off the Browns’ reserve unit several times, originally as a defensive back but now with the designation of linebacker.
