Browns sign AAF standout RB D’Ernest Johnson

The Cleveland Browns have tapped into the now-defunct AAF for more talent. Cleveland announced it has signed running back D’Ernest Johnson.

Johnson bullied tacklers in the AAF for the Orlando Apollos, netting almost 6 yards per carry and scoring twice. He is a 208-pound power back from South Florida who did not see any active duty time in the NFL in his rookie season of 2018.

Johnson joins former Apollos teammate Garrett Gilbert with the Browns. The duo led the Apollos to the best record in the AAF.

No correlating roster move has been announced as of yet, but this move appears directly related to L.J. Scott’s unexplained absence.
