BEREA, Ohio _ Browns rookie Antonio Callaway was cited for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license the same day the team effectively promoted him into the starting lineup by trading fellow wide receiver Corey Coleman.
In an incident report, Strongsville, Ohio police officer Eric Schubert wrote he stopped Callaway at 2:59 a.m. Sunday for failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Schubert wrote he found Callaway's driver's license to be suspended and a small amount of marijuana under the driver's seat.
Callaway's vehicle was picked up by a family member, according to the incident report, and he's scheduled to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the same the day Browns will face the Giants in New Jersey at 7 p.m. in the preseason opener.
"We're aware of the citation are in the process of gathering more information and will comment further at the appropriate time," a Browns spokesperson said.
Callaway was on the field Tuesday for the 11th practice of training camp.
