Browns reaffirm no starters will play vs. Lions in the preseason finale

If Lions fans were hoping to get a little taste of the Browns hype in the preseason finale in Cleveland, they’ll have to sate themselves with just window dressing. Browns coach Freddie Kitchens has indicated none of the Browns starters will play a snap vs. the Lions in Thursday night’s exhibition.

Kitchens doubled down on an earlier double-down in a recent press conference that he will not play Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, Nick Chubb, Jarvis Landry or pretty much any Browns player the normal Lions fan has ever heard of.

The Browns have several position battles going on at the bottom of their roster and hope to evaluate those players one last time. It’s also an opportunity for the Lions coaching staff to get a longer, up-close look at some players the Browns will cut who may draw Detroit’s interest.
