CLEVELAND — Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield revealed more about the extent of his left shoulder injury during an interview with Fox's Jay Glazer, saying he has a fractured humerus bone.
Mayfield had already publicly disclosed he suffered a completely torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder Sept. 19 against the Houston Texans and further damaged it in Sunday's 37-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
During Thursday night's "NFL on Fox Pregame" show, Glazer said Mayfield told him about the fracture in an interview Wednesday. The scan Mayfield had earlier this week showed the fracture, which the QB told Glazer occurred when his shoulder dislocated this past weekend. Mayfield said the fracture is preventing his rotator cuff from firing.
"I need that fracture to heal for me to get back out there," Mayfield told Glazer.
Case Keenum started in place of Mayfield as the Browns (3-3) hosted the Denver Broncos (3-3) on "Thursday Night Football."
Glazer said he asked Mayfield the timeline for his return, and Mayfield said, "I'm hoping for next week."
After Thursday night's game, the Browns will next play Oct. 31 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at FirstEnergy Stadium.
