BEREA, Ohio — Pushing through an injured left shoulder to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers is "absolutely" a possibility for Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
That's the message Mayfield delivered Wednesday before the Browns (4-3) practiced at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in preparation for the Steelers (3-3).
Mayfield plans to practice Wednesday afternoon.
"See what I can do and take it day by day," he said.
Mayfield is dealing with a completely torn labrum, fraying and a fractured humerus bone in his non-throwing shoulder. The injury sidelined him for Thursday night's 17-14 win over the Denver Broncos, ending Mayfield's streak of 53 consecutive starts.
Mayfield said shutting it down for the rest of the 2021 season hasn't been discussed, and he disputed the notion that offseason surgery is a foregone conclusion at this point.
