Fractured shoulder and all, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has been given medical clearance to play on Sunday versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to Jake Trotter, who covers the Browns for ESPN, Mayfield will start.
Today’s practice report has not been released, but Mayfield was limited in practice both Wednesday and Thursday.
Mayfield, who’s dealing with both a broken humerus bone and a fully torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder, is expected to undergo surgery in the offseason.
One hit to Mayfield will only make matters worse and you can bet that Steelers defenders won’t show any mercy.
Not a smart move by Mayfield, but there’s a “first” that he’s going for: Should Mayfield lead Cleveland to a win, he’ll be the first Browns quarterback to win three straight against the Steelers in three decades. Bernie Kosar, 1988 to 1989, was the last to do it.
