Browns promote CB Robert Jackson from practice squad to cover injuries

A rash of injuries in the Cleveland Browns secondary has forced the team to promote cornerback Robert Jackson from the practice squad.

Jackson joins the Browns defensive backfield as one of the few healthy bodies. Both starting CBs, Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams, missed Friday’s practice with hamstring injuries. Starting safeties Damarious Randall and Morgan Burnett are also sidelined with injuries.

Jackson played extensively in the preseason and did some of his best work on special teams. He was also on the practice squad for a portion of the 2018 season.

To make room for Jackson on the 53-man roster, the Browns waived RB Elijah McGuire. They also brought back 7th-round rookie CB Donnie Lewis Jr. to the practice squad to fill the hole left by Jackson’s promotion.
