Browns players ready to strap on the pads after two practices without them

The first two days of Cleveland Browns training camp featured a lot of action and highlights, but there was something missing.

Pads.

The players were in shorts and helmets only on Thursday and Friday. It’s still football, but it’s not full-contact. That changes on Saturday, which will be the first practice session of training camp where everyone is in full protective gear.

Browns left guard Joel Bitonio is ready for the pads to come on. It ups the intensity and physicality for the linemen, and Bitonio is ready.

“Two days without the pads on so a lot is going to come out in the next few days when we get full pads on. It is good,” Bitonio said.

Wideout Jarvis Landry echoed Bitonio’s sentiment about the pads.

“Obviously, it is football and it is an opportunity for us to really get some contact after the break that we had. It is going to be a good day, I am sure it will be,” Landry said after Friday’s practice.

The gradual approach to full football appears to be working, at least on the injury front. No Browns players have been carted off or injured more than a slight strain or contusion. Hopefully that will continue now that everyone is in full pads.
