The Browns have placed the original-round tender on restricted free agent wide receiver Rashard Higgins.
That means any other team wishing to sign Higgins and lure him away from the Browns would be forced to send back a fifth-round pick. Higgins was a fifth-rounder out of Colorado State back in 2016.
Cleveland could have placed a higher tender offer on Higgins but elected to risk losing him for a lesser return. The original-round tender is worth just over $2 million for 2019 and will be his salary if he remains in Cleveland.
Giving up just a fifth-round pick should attract interest from other teams for a player who caught 39 passes for 572 yards and four touchdowns in 2018. Higgins stepped up late, catching 10 passes for 146 yards in the final two games.
