Browns place OL Chris Hubbard on injured reserve

Chris Hubbard’s 2020 season is now officially over. The Browns placed the veteran offensive lineman on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Hubbard tore ligaments in his right knee in Sunday night’s win in New York over the Giants, as well as dislocating a kneecap. He is slated for surgery to repair the extensive damage. Hubbard was filling in for Wyatt Teller at right guard when he went down with the injury.

After starting at right tackle for two years and largely struggling in Cleveland, Hubbard found his niche as the top reserve lineman. He played well in fill-in duty at both guard and tackle during the season.

The team has not yet filled the roster vacancy created by Hubbard’s move.

In addition to Hubbard going on I.R., the Browns also moved safety Elijah Benton to the practice squad reserve/COVID-19 list.
