Browns legend Vince Costello dies at 86

Vince Costello, who played linebacker for the Cleveland Browns from 1957 through 1966 and was inducted into the team’s Legends program, died on Saturday at age 86.

Costello was a starter for all 10 of his seasons in Cleveland during the team’s heyday in the Paul Brown era, including for the NFL championship team in 1964. He picked off 22 passes in his career. The team never had a losing record in his 10 years.

Prior to joining the Browns, he was a multi-sport star at Ohio University. He joined the Browns Legends in 2011 with center Tom DeLeone. Our condolences to the Costello family.
