Browns Legend Fred “Curly” Morrison has passed away

Fred Morrison led the Cleveland Browns in rushing in 1955 and spent three seasons in Cleveland from 1954-1956, where he played in championship games in all three seasons. The former Ohio State Buckeye and Browns standout passed away on Sunday at the age of 94 due to complications from a broken hip that occurred six weeks ago.

In addition to being a star for the Buckeyes and playing seven seasons in the NFL with both the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns, Morrison was also in executive roles with the Southern California Sun of the World Football League and the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League.

He was very active in charity for the Boys and Girls Clubs of California into late retirement. Morrison was a phenomenal person and always had a smile on his face when dealing with fans.

We here at Browns Wire extend our sympathies to Morrison’s family and friends.
