Browns kicker Greg Joseph joins USMNT training session

Greg Joseph is currently the placekicker for the Cleveland Browns, but before popping the pigskin he played another sport: soccer. Like a lot of kickers, soccer was part of the formative athletic years for Joseph.

He got a chance to pal around with his old sport this week. The U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) held a practice session at the Browns training facility in advance of Sunday’s game at FirstEnergy Stadium against Trinidad.

Joseph exchanged jerseys with USMNT standout and Columbus Crew star Wil Trapp in a cross-sport display of camaraderie and appreciation. The USMNT proudly tweeted out a picture of Joseph, who was born in South Africa, and Trapp after the session.

Joseph was an all-state soccer player in high school in Florida before kicking at Florida Atlantic. He’s now fighting for his job with Austin Seibert after an uneven but largely successful rookie campaign.
