Browns, John Dorsey release statement on Antonio Callaway’s suspension

Cleveland Browns GM John Dorsey has once again been forced to release a statement on behalf of the team regarding a disciplinary issue with a player. This time, and not for the first time, it involves second-year wideout Antonio Callaway.

Callaway has been suspended for the first four games of the 2019 season for a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He was previously in the league’s program for a positive test for a diluted urine sample at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine and a marijuana-related charge in college.

Dorsey’s statement in full, released by the Browns PR department:

“We’re disappointed in Antonio. Freddie and I have had a direct conversation with him about where we stand. He understands our expectations of him. We will continue to support him as long as he remains committed to taking advantage of the resources made available to him by our club and the league to help him become the best version of himself as a person first and foremost.”

Callaway will be allowed to practice with the team during his suspension. He joins RB Kareem Hunt as Browns offensive skill position players who are suspended for malfeasance.
