Browns host free agent DT Mike Daniels for visit

When the Green Bay Packers unexpectedly cut Pro Bowl defensive tackle Mike Daniels earlier this week, many instantly connected the dots between Daniels and the considerable contingency of ex-Packers in the Cleveland Browns front office. It seems Daniels followed those dots to Browns training camp in Berea, too.

Per a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns are hosting Daniels for a free agent visit and workout on Thursday. It’s the first visit Daniels has made since being dumped by the only NFL team he’s played for. As Schefter noted, the Browns had considerable interest in Gerald McCoy earlier this offseason when the Buccaneers parted ways with the multi-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle as well.

Daniels was drafted by the Packers when their front office included current Browns execs Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith. It seems they have not lost their affection for Daniels, one of the NFL’s more effective pass rushers along the defensive interior.
