One of the names to know for Day 2 of the 2021 NFL draft is a player from off the beaten path typically trodded by scouts. Quinn Meinerz hails from Wisconsin-Whitewater, a D-III program that doesn’t attract scouting attention very often.
Meinerz commands the attention. The Warhawks guard is one of the top interior offensive line prospects in the upcoming draft. And Meinerz confirmed in a recent interview with The Athletic that he’s met with every NFL team, including the Browns. That is to be expected, of course; Meinerz was at the Senior Bowl in January and nearly every player there meets with nearly every team.
The Browns could be interested in Meinerz as a potential replacement for center JC Tretter. Meinerz noted in the interview that 75 percent of the teams he’s talked to view him as a center prospect even though he’s played guard. Cleveland does have last year’s fifth-round pick, Nick Harris, grooming in that role already, but Meinerz is a higher-end prospect with better size and power in his movement.
