In case you aren’t familiar with the story of Browns wide receiver Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi, it’s definitely worth catching up on.
The JUCO product from Phoenix College talked his way into a tryout with the Browns despite not having an invite. The problem was that the tryout was a week away, and he couldn’t afford to fly back home or get a hotel room. So, Sheehy-Guiseppi spent the next week sleeping outside a fitness center and the Browns training facility.
He crushed his tryout and earned a spot on the training camp roster. And in the opening preseason game, he made a case to make the actual team.
Sheehy-Guiseppi was mobbed by his teammates after an 86-yard punt return for a touchdown, and as awesome as that moment was, the mic’d up video took it to a new level.
We got a chance to hear the genuine excitement from the Browns players and coaches as Sheehy-Guiseppi scored.
The postgame scene in the locker room was especially great.
The Browns have their second preseason game on Saturday against the Colts. Plenty of NFL fans will have their eyes on Sheehy-Guiseppi as he hopes to add to this storybook journey.
