Browns front office structure set to resemble the Eagles way?

The New England Patriots are a gold standard in the NFL and their culture is so highly thought of that people around the league came up with a nickname for it.

The “Patriot Way” rings bells around the NFL for the ways Bill Belichick and company do business and now the Philadelphia Eagles are quickly becoming a standard-bearer across the NFL.

According to Albert Bree of The Monday Morning Quarterback, the Cleveland Browns plan to structure their front office in a similar fashion to the Eagles.

With Andrew Berry leaving the Eagles and Howie Roseman to run his own team, the thinking in Cleveland is to have a VP of football operations and a VP of player personnel inserted under the GM, in a fashion similar to the set up in Philadelphia.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com is reporting that former Colts GM Ryan Grigson has a solid relationship with Berry and is currently serving in an advisory and consulting role that could become permanent after the NFL Draft.

Grigson and Ken Kavash could eventually step into the roles of VP of football operations and VP of player personnel at some point.

For the Eagles, that model has been successful and starts with Howie Roseman as the team’s executive vice president/general manager. Berry was the team’s VP of football operation before leaving for the Browns. The Eagles promoted Andy Weidl to vice president of player personnel to replace Joe Douglas, who took the Jets GM job last spring.

Weidl is entering his fourth season with the Eagles and worked with Joe Douglas in Baltimore before joining the Birds.
